NHM - Nutrition & Foods Scholarships

Through the establishment of scholarships and endowments, donors support the efforts of students in the College of Health Sciences. Listed below are several scholarship opportunities for our majors. Students are encouraged to also check with department chairs and program coordinators regarding regional, state and national opportunities.

Scholarship awards are contingent on adequate funding.


The Annie Dougherty Rufty Scholarship

Approximate Amount: $735

Eligibility

  • Available to full-time Nutrition and Foods Majors who demonstrates financial need and maintains a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Rising junior or senior
  • Preference is given to students who demonstrate leadership involvement with extracurricular activities related to the Nutrition and Foods Major

The Betty Conley Lyerly Willis Endowed Scholarship

Approximate Amount: $990

Eligibility

  • Available to full-time Nutrition and Foods Majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Preference is given to students who will be a productive citizen able to contribute back to the community upon graduation

The John and Vivian Welborn Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Approximate Amount: $3,100 (Divided among 3 students)

Eligibility

  • Available to Nutrition and Foods Majors
  • Preference is given to students who are North Carolina residents who demonstrate financial need

The Virginia Brown, Lillie Perry, and Elizabeth Scoggins Scholarship

Approximate Amount: $520

Eligibility

  • Available to full-time Nutrition and Foods Majors who demonstrates financial need and maintains a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Rising junior or senior
  • Preference is given to students who demonstrate leadership involvement with extracurricular activities related to the Nutrition and Foods Major
